All posters on this page are original Italian movie (or video) posters as used in cinemas/theatres to promote/advertise the movie. Available through theatres or theatre owners only.
The Italian movie industry has always been very commercially orientated and has spawned various strange and obscure genres like: peplum, gothic horror, mondo, spaghetti westerns, giallo, nuns, devil possession, Emanuelles (Laura Gemser), nazis, cannibals, roman orgies, zombies, barbarians, post-apocalypse and various other exploitation genres.
The following are some of the common sizes of original Italian movie posters:
1 or Un Foglio aka 1/Un Folio or One Sheet - equivalent to the USA one sheet, it measures around 28x39 inch, around 70x100 cm. Foglio is Italian for sheet.
2 or Due Fogli aka 2/Due Folio or Two Sheet - usually measures 39x55 inch, around 100x140 cm, and issued folded.
Locandina, plural is Locandine, aka Italian Insert - measures around 13x28 inch, around 33x70 cm, similar to the USA insert, but on paper/light stock.
Fotobusta, plural is Fotobuste aka Photobustas, Fotobustas or Italian Lobby Cards - measures around 14x14/20 inch, 35x35/50 cm, until the late 50's, then size changed to around 18/20x27/28 inch, around 50x70 cm. Photobustas are Italian posters that look a bit like giant USA lobby cards and usually come in sets of 8, 14 or more or less.
Manifesto, plural Manifesti - Italian posters are often also referred to as Manifesti which loosely translated means announcement.
